Lump in shoulder muscle...

ok. I go away on Monday, and it's before Christmas and don't know when I'll be able to get anyone look at it.

I've ben rubbing my neck muscles and thought I found a knot (I've been really stressed recently), but in rubbing it, it feels more like a lump. It's pain free and moves around... An ideas what it might be????

Most likely a cyst or a fat lump or a knot in the muscle tissue. Most nasty things you can't move around very easily.

Phone your GP surgery and get an appointment for when you return. It's always a good idea to check out anything you're concerned about. But be prepared to cancel the appointment if you can't find the lump again by then. Stress does often make us hyper-aware of things that are perfectly normal. (Trust me - I'm an expert!)

Lymph node? Where abouts in your neck is it?

In the top/ back of my shoulder - exactly where you get knots when stressed... but it feels like a lump, not a knot. it doesn't help that in the family, we have 2 members who have had breast cancer and one who has terminal cancer. My imagination is on overdrive Smile. It's good to post here, to avoid Dr Google and yet to get it off my chest before getting an appointment. Will it be ok to leave it a week or two (when we get back). It's about cherry tomato size ish, sort of...

My mother had a lipoma (fatty lump) just there - as you say, 'attached but moves around' and wasn't very hard.

My bet is lipoma Smile

And total sympathy on the leaping to conclusions bit, especially with serious illness so close to home.
