Hello, I've namechanged as I'm a little bit embarrassed but also in bloody agony

I've never had piles before so to me it looks severe and I'm really swollen.

I'm using a cream but anyone got any advice on how to ease the pain or bring the swelling down.

Bloody bumgrapes, they're actually making me quite depressed, bugger.

Bum in cold water?
Make a GP appointment, you might be able to get either e referral or some other medication. The trouble is, it will happen again and time will not make it better. The consultation won't be pleasant Blush
Good luck, it's a nightmare.
(I am sure you know to avoid coffee, spicy food and anything likely to constipate)

Tea Tree oil

DH struggled with some whoppers after constipation from painkillers following surgery. Germoloids dual action suppositories were very good apparently, also got him some Preparation H wipes.

He can walk normally now...

Definately see the gp,they can give you stronger cream than you can buy.In the meantime, try sudocrem or a tip that my midwife gave me,put some ice cubes in a plastic bag, crush them down a bit, then apply to affected area,it gives a bit of a shock but it does work.

I had this last year - agony, real real agony. I went to the GP 3x, normally so embarrassed about this sort of thing but the pain was awful so I had no choice. He gave me various creams etc but nothing really worked. The only relief was from codine tablets (make you drowsy though). At my final GP trip (after about a week) he decided I needed to be operated on and he rang the hospital for me to be admitted. They said they don't operate on them but leave them to go down alone... so, with plenty of codine tablets I waited and after a week or so it was much better. Not had any problems since...
poor you, so painful. Try to get some codine.

Thanks everyone. It's so embarrassing isn't it but soooo painful. A trip to the GP seems to be the way forward. I wonder if I can use a pseudonym there too.

A word of warning codeine will make you constipated, which is the opposite of what you want, so be careful about using it.

If you have severe pain, it is possible you have thrombosed piles, ask your doctor if he can remove the blood clot (if not a and e probably would) because that will bring you relief.

good luck Smile

Kurri kurri - that is what I had, thrombosed piles...ouch, so painful. The GP thought the clot should be removed but the hospital would not do it (we live near a very large teaching hospital and they said best to leave it). I forgot that about codine... yes... probably wasn't the best thing to take but the pain was SOOOOOOoooo bad.
Don't worry about going to the GP - you may find it awful but they don't...
