this isn't a major health problem but i've suffered from bad posture for years and years. it probably stems from a lack of confidence but i'm sick of it now. it causes back pain and i know it looks awful. someone i met even said they didn't like me at first because my posture put them off!

telling myself to stand up straight doesn't help because i forget after a couple of minutes.

does anyone ideas about how to start fixing this?

Am same.
Pilates is very good for this, I've got a dvd and it would definitely help if I did it more often Blush

my mum used to do the Alexander Technique - that's meant to be good for posture

I was told Pilates too, my posture is crap (always has been), i should try and find the time to do pilates.

nope, but several friends swear by it

It helps my posture for about a week after I've done my dvd, but am very lazy at getting round to doing it Grin

But have recently had bit of backache so need to make more effort.

Just thought i'd add to this thread as its something i am very familiar with - being an osteopath for the last 13 years, parent and due another baby any day!!

Good posture is hard to achieve on your own, and despite all the hype, pilates really does not prevent poor posture. Sorry to hear your suffering, but when pregnant posture is altered by your changing centre of gravity and the demands placed on your low back especially.

There is a new product called PosturePlast which really can help you reduce back pain - its completely safe when pregnant as its drug and medication free. The beauty of PosturePlast is that it encourages you use good posture when wearing it, but subconsciously changes your habits so that good posture is maintain when your not. Clever.
