Hi, I have multiple chronic illnesses (too many to list right now), and use a wheelchair because I have a incomplete spinal cord injury, 3 burst fractures vetebrae, spondylyosis and spondylyothesis of my spine.
I have a 7 month old baby.
What are your problems? And how are you?
Would be good to chat to others in a similar position.

Hiya Reeny, you sound like you have your hands full!

im disabled too, I have a bodged below knee amputation which causes me chronic pain, I also have probs on my other knee as the tissue is degenerating so am currently undergoing tests and its looking like another op is on the horizon.

I use a wheelchair mainly and can walk very short distances with two sticks, i also have a mobility scooter.

I would love another child but I need help already to look after my 4 year old ds and it doesnt seem fair on anyone to bring another child into the mix as things stand. Im in a bit of a quandry, do i start TTC soon as my husband is at home as my carer or do I wait and hope at least my knee will recover. I also take lots of medication and I worry how I will cope without it.

Sorry for blabbiing on, how are you coping youself? Its hard enough coping with a 7 month old without all the added complications, how do ur disabilities affect you day by day, it sounds like you might have issues with lifting, thats a prob for me too, after about 6 months I had real difficultys lifting my son in and out of swings and out of the bath.

I have to get myself together now to go out for breakfast, just wanted to let you know you arent alone! :)

Hiya, thanks both for the replies. I haven't been on a while as been having a rough patch.
Lifting my baby boy is now extremely difficult, don't know what I'm going to do if no one around to help me. If my partner isnt around i usually try and make sure everything is in the same room I'm in, and as close to me as possible.

Hi mummysfunny,
Did you use a wheelchair before you were pregnant with your 4 year old or was it after?
My 7 month old is growing so fast. I need to buy a baby carrier that will fit him in so he can ride safely on my lap in my wheelchair.

Hi.

You sound like your doing a great job. I don't have much advise but would recommend trying the 'close' baby carrier as should suit your use perfectly

disabledparentsnetwork are useful for info on gadgets etc, but even more use on rights to assistance with parent related activity. Also, your council Social Services Disability unit should help. Good luck.
