Hi i’m hoping someone can give me some advice. I’ve had my thyroid results which my Dr has said are all normal - TSH 3.83, FT4 16.3, FT3 not done. I don’t know the range - should I ask for this? Thyroid problems run in my family.

Thank you

Optimal range varies from country to country, or even from health trust to health trust. For instance what’s ok in the U.K. wouldn’t be acceptable in Germany. Apparently it used to be that the symptoms would be treated with little reference to blood tests, but now many medical professionals adhere slavishly to blood tests and determine treatment - if any - based on the local standards. My blood tests are similar to my two sisters; one got blanked by her GP, the other got treatment from her GP, mine played ‘wait and see’ for over five years until I found myself a thyroid specialist as my symptoms screamed thyroid to me.

Have a look at www.stopthethyroidmadness.com or www.thyroidpharmacist.com

Here’s a suggested guideline
