I have really bad shooting pains in my left breast, i'mnot pregnant, not breastfeeding and haven't been for 5 years. I have a very slight cold but nothing major.

Anyone got any ideas?

I always seem to get this when I have a virus.

I've had this tit kebab on red hot skewer - blardy agony. Never got it diagnosed, it just went away eventually.

guessing its 'bug' related and will hopefully bog off, so blinking painful though!

Pain got so bad I was nearly in tears( this is coming from someone who's had 2 drug-free labours) i phoned nhs direct who said 6 hour wait, so phoned my GPs to ask for advice and the on call GP wanted to see me, quick exam later concluded its my ribs/mussels not boob and may well be pre-shingles pain and do look out for spots in the area of pain. One large dose of painkillers later and the pain has eased a lot and just waiting to see if it is a random pulled mussell or shingles.

Just curious as to your age. I first got this and was told was start of peri-menopause at 39

Does sound a bit shingley to me. I had shooting pains (and a slight cold) in my head, then some weird bumps on my scalp, then a few days later....rash on my forehead. Sympathies.

By the way, if you are vulnerable in any way, or over 50, or just have a sympathetic GP, you can get antivirals as soon as the rash appears which make a big difference - stopped the rash in its tracks, for me, as I got them fast.

Chicks - I'm 33

Elibean- no spots yet but if shingles then few days to wait, I feel under the weather and did this weekend so it's plausible and the pain fits the nhs direct description, GP said they don't treat it but to phone and let them know if spots appear.
