Live in a semi rural place and it's a pita to get to a pharmacy so trying to stock up (without buying stuff that is going to expire)

Have two preschool DSes

Nurofen children
Calpol

Dioralyte
Solpadeine

Messy contents of an off the shelf first aid kit that we take on hols
What else do you have as standard?

A cold pack to keep in the freezer, some anti histhamine cream for bites and stings and some oral decongestant.
Also, plasters, tigerbalm and mozzie repellent but we did live in Bangkok for most of DDs early childhood.

We always have a supply of -

paracetamol
Dioralyte
decongestant / Lempsip
Karvol - decongestant to sniff on a hanky
antihistamine liquid for children
antihistamine cream for bites
Savlon cream

Plasters
Wound dressings (Melolin) - much bigger than plasters so great for large grazes etc

Since I did a first aid course I've also got a kit with assorted dressings, bandages, triangular bandage for a sling, eye pad, finger bandage, non-alcoholic wipes for cleaning wounds, plus latex gloves and a foil blanket for covering casualties! But that's in the car rather than the house.

additional to the above:

For young children

glycerol cough medicine
mild vapour rub

we have kept some infacol - been useful a couple of times for trapped wind, even though DC is a toddler

We also have aqueous calomine cream for chickenpox spots and other itches.

Don't forget supplies of things you need day-to-day e.g. eczema creams or whatever your family needs.

for adults:

cough medicine

strepsils / supermarket equivalent

anti-histamines
