Spod, I think they get immunity to whatever you have through the bfing. My ds and dd never caught any colds from me while I was breastfeeding.

No, you will pass on some great antibodies which are very healthy and will make her strong.

Spod - your breastmilk contains something called Gamma globulins which boost the baby's immune system in an overall way. Plus, as you have the cold, you will be making specific antibodies to it and very soon these will be passed on in your breastmilk to your dd. By the time she would catch the infection from you, you will already be passing on to her the specific antibodies to stop her getting it. Isn't nature wonderful! Obviously you have to take care about things like not sneezing all over her (mind you, try telling that to another child - my poor ds had a cold at a week old cos dd kept on kissing him even though she was dripping with bogies!!).
And be nice to yourself, its rotten to have a cold so soon after giving birth. A great excuse to curl up in bed with your dd and get better! Hope you are feeling better soon.

I got a very severe cold with fever when ds was about 3 weeks. He didn't catch it and I am sure bf prevented him getting ill. I think if you do pass it on and you bf, your baby will only get a mild cold.

Hope you feel better soon!
