Horrible skin Infection under breast

Idohaveoneofthese · 12/11/2011 09:53

Can anyone help please - my mil has had recurring problems with cirrhosis under her breasts. This makes it very difficult to wear a bra which then makes things worse as it just ges sweaty (sorry TMI under there) could anyone recommend a dressing which she could put under there which would stay on. Or is there some kind of bandage that she would wear like a heart rate monitor to keep the skin separated under there. I would really appreciate your help her GP hasn't managed to solve it for her.

I can't reccomend anything I'm afraid, but could she make an appt to see a nurse? They are more likely to have more time and up-to date knowledge about things like this I would have thought.

Not sure I understand your post but my Mum had a horrible skin rash under her breast and she used Caldescene powder, not sure if you can get it in the UK but it is a medicated talc. It really helped clear it up,but I am not sure if that's what your mil has...not heard of cirrhosis under the breast.

Yes I do mean psoriasis, not sure how you would get the other one under there!! Blush I can suggest she goes to the nurse, good idea. will check out the talc too, thanks ladies.

I second FiteFuaite regarding the caldescene. It is absolutely brilliant for most skin rashes. If you know anyone in Ireland, get them to post you over a couple of tins. You can get a caldescene cream too, but the powder is good for sweat rashes or thrush rashes.

Has she seen a specialist? I went to a presentation by a dermatology nurse a while ago and she had amazing knowledge.

I know for elderly patients in care homes they use a barrier cream like Drapolene under the breasts but not sure how that would work with psoriasis.

Has she tried wearing a silk vest under a non underwired bra?

These are all great, thank you.

Sounds like a heat rash. Clean well with water. Pat dry. Apply a little Calendula cream, then some baby powder. Repeat morning and evening and it should clear up.

once its been treated and under control,im another one that suggests using baby powder under the bust it really works.
