citalopram question

I'm feeling very sorry for myself. Have been on citalopram for last 18 months, cut down from 20mg to 10mg with no problems, have been taking 10mg every other day for last 2 weeks, and stopped altogether 3 days ago.
I have been very snappy and irritable since, and could sleep for England. My shoulder/neck muscles feel really tight and I feel slightly wheezy/breathless/chesty - more aware of heart beat.
On top of this I came on today and I know i am terrible for not taking my asthma inhalers.
Other than my irritability, all these symptoms are mild and I am probably making a fuss over nothing, but does anyone recognise these as citalopram withdrawal, am I just making a fuss? if they are withdrawal how long am I likely to feel like this?

Why are you withdrawing from the citalopram?

Unless you withdraw very gradually, you will experience a sudden recurrence of depressive symptoms. Perhaps it's a sign that you need to remain on it.

I think you may have cut down too quickly from 10mg - it's only been two weeks from 10mg to zero which is quite a dramatic amount in a short space of time. Am trying to remember what I did wuth stopping citalopram - I think after I had had 10mg for a while I did every other day for a while, then went two days without for a while, then three days etc. Then found I had stopped without realising which also meant I didn't have rhe feeling of "stopping".

But being on ADs isn't rhe worst thing - depression is much worse IMO anyway. Hope you feel at least a bit better soon.
