c-section

Since having my c-section (3 weeks ago today) I've avoided baths and stuck with showering. Am dying to get in the bath and soak.

Question: When did you bathe after your c-sec? Is it okay to use a bubble bath etc..

Thanks

I had a bath the next day in the hospital! Stuck to showering at home for a couple of weeks, but only because it was a) quicker and b) easier to get in and out.

I didn't use bubble bath for a while, but I'm a bit sensitive to stuff like that generally.

I would have a lovely Christmas soak if I were you.

i had showers for a few weeks too as it would be a struggle to get in and out of baths by yourself.. but if you can do it then go for it if cant go on have a lovely shower and get your DP/Dh to help you to get in!

but make sure you dry your c-section area throughly and gently (just pat it)

I had a bath straight after my section. I stook to mainly plain bath water no bubbles and what not. It won't harm or hurt you in anyway to have a soak. If you are to add bubble bath or anything use baby bath as it is mild.

As for the stuggle getting in and out the bath, just take care and have partner at hand if you need any assistance.

Enjoy!!

If you think that you can get in and out OK, then there's no reason why you shouldn't have a soak in the bath. I can't remember how long I left it, probably a couple of weeks, and I needed helping in and out, but the first bath was bliss!

I didn't use any bubble baths for about six weeks, because I had an infection and wanted to make sure that the scar was healing properly, but again, I would think that depends on how you feel really.

I'd say go for it - and enjoy

I was advised to have baths straight away, with tea tree and lavender in (essential oils, not bubbles with lots of nasties in). Lurvely.

If you add drops of tea tree and/or lavender (essential oils, like snowleopard said) to a little bit of milk, it helps them mix with the water. Sea salt is great for healing too!

I took lots of arnica which helped me heal quickly too. Would also recommend the tea-tree and lavender oils. Enjoy!!

Another fan of essential oils here. As well as lavender and tea tree, you could try Roman Camomile - really gorgeous (if a bit pricey).

Thank you for all the advice.

I was doped up to the eyeballs prior to the section and was up and running around like a fool only hours after the section. Paid for it the next day though (laughs now at picture of me running across ward pushing cot to loo and then rearranging the seating for visitors!!)
Have been showering on own since being home with no probs so think I will go for it and have that lovely bath....have been dying for it!!!

Thanks ladies
