Awe poor baby!

My ds's got them there too, horrible!

sudo cream to keep the wee off them? (i think it stings when the wee hits them)

merrySOAPBOXingday · 23/12/2005 23:00

Double up on the painkillers then - junior nurofen and paracetemol!

A cool bath might help too?

Oh poor love...hope the double dosing, bath and time help FAST. Sorry to see you've chicken pox to deal with on top of everything else this Xmas, Misdee. xx

FairyTaleinNewYork · 23/12/2005 23:13

lockets i am dreading dd3 getting it (dd2 will hopefully be ok as she has a high pain threshold, last week she was perfectly happy with an eardrum about to burst)

Sorry to hear this Misdee, especially as it messes up your plans to see your DH.

On CP front however I thought I might add that my DS2 got CP at 13 months, he was still b/fed, and you would have barely known he will ill, didn't seem to bother him at all. I have heard from a few people that the younger the child is when they get CP the easier it is for them to deal with. The b/feeding is bound to help too.

Hope you are all better soon.

dunno if you still need this, but we had the calamine and glycerin cream from boots... it stays on much better than calamine, and isn't as cold! we put a nice thick layer on ds which seemed to work

FairyTaleinNewYork · 24/12/2005 10:23

thanks starlover, still need it, she is very sore today. will get my parents to try and get some today for me,

Do you have any oatmeal? Or even porridge oats? Put some in a muslin bag and put it in the bath with her, or hang it under the taps as you run them. It's very soothing.

Aloe vera gel is soothing too.

FairyTaleinNewYork · 24/12/2005 12:00

loads of porraige, will dop that later on thanks for all the tips.

dd1+2 are currently curled up on the sofa watching christmas films. aww how sweet lol.

SnowmAngeliz · 24/12/2005 13:34

AWW, hope she's feeling better soon!
My dd2 has just gotten over them and she had them all over her privates! If your dd3 gets them, (hopefully not over Christmas) then i found leaving dd2 in her sleepsuit for a few days worked well as she couldn't get to them and was o.k with that (but my dd has loads in her hair and ears too)

tegan · 24/12/2005 21:41

dd2 has got really spotty private over the last few days and some spots on her legs. Could this be chicken pox?
I hope not seeing as she has spent today with sil and her new baby cousin born yesterday.

snufflepuss · 24/12/2005 21:49

I know it sounds all wrong but I found Lanacane powder worked for both dd's - dd2 was 6 weeks old when she caught it from her sister - and they both had it horribly in their girly bits. I had PUPPS while pregnant with dd2 and I know it cooled the skin, stopped itching and was a great relief for me, which is why I used it on them - dd2 said it helped.

Good luck, it is horrible.

somethingsexyandLYcRAinmystock · 25/12/2005 12:46

i found a bag of frozen peas was helpful when I had chick pox there, maybe wrapped in a muslin or tea towel so as not to get freezer burns too (ouch!).
