I've used this but it did nothing for me, but, on the other hand one of my mates uses it and she swears by it.

Woollyboots,

Transexamic acid is like putting a band aid on a gaping wound. At best it is a short term solution

You would be far better off determining exactly why your periods are as heavy as they are - I would ask your GP to refer you to a gynae. One possible cause of heavy periods is fibroids; another is endometriosis.

My mum takes these. She finds they help a little. She thinks they might give her leg cramps (but she's on other medication and has other conditions that might cause these other than the tranexamnic acid). As MU says, try and get a gynae referal to investigate what might be causing this.

No AF for a year and a half now - pregnancy and BF are great! But beforehand used to use tranny acid and found it really great (though I guess it doesn't work for everyone). I know some people get diarrhoea with it, but I got that anyway with AF so never noticed any side effects at all. And no hormone side effects like the pill.

Woolyboots - I take tranexamic acid and it is fantastic. It really reduces the amount of blood you lose with heavy periods. I personally do not think there is a need to see a gynae at this stage because heavy periods are a natural progression on life IMO. If the tranexamic acid did not work then a referral would be a good idea.

Itwas a gynae that prescribed them. Had pollop(spelling!) removed but periods remained heavy. He seemed to think this might help but I dont like taking pills
