They have moved her to Auckland General, shes having a complete heart valve replacement first thing tomorrow. They said she has alot of clotting round the valve they replaced last year which has caused it to jam open, putting stress on her other valves causinf them to leak badly, they say they need to do the op tomorrow as shes really ill.

Im numb i cant belive its all happening so fast 3 days ago i had my mum feeling fine by my side and now i dont know if im gonna see her again after tomorrow. The worst thing is shes scared and i cant bare to think of her like that, all i can do is cry even though i know i should be strong for her. please please pray for her.

More positive thoughts and crossed fingers for your Mum, Charlee...its so hard, seeing parents scared (at any age). Hugs to you, hope it goes well. xx

Shes had the op, they said it went well, they only had to clear the obstruction to get the valve to work again so they didnt need to replace anything which was great. but i just rang and the drs are with her they are suspecting a bleed, i think they mean internal although im not sure, they just asked for my number incase they need me in the night. im scared. incase something happens to her. i thought when they said the op went well she'd be ok but something in the nurses voice on the phone makes me think shes not. will keep you posted.

Glad the operation is over and the hospital are keeping a close eye on her. Are you able to go and see her today? Maybe you should phone the hospital back and ask them some questions so you know whats happening. Otherwise you will end up driving yourself mad with worry by thinking they are hiding something from you.

Merry Xmas everyone.

Mum is doing really well! Shes didnt have a bleed, what happended was the right side of her heart was stiff from where it had been stopped so long in the op, it was beating alot slower tha the other side, but they gave her some medication and all's working well.

Shes talking and eating and drinking, shes on intensive care at the moment, but there thinking of transfering her to a normal ward today.

Thank-you all for your support, i was really scared.
Right before the operation i was with her and the surgeon came in and all he kept saying was how riskey it was, and that he didnt have high hopes for her. He just kept saying over and over again how there was only a 20% chance she would wake up and that it was basicly a last ditch attempt to save her.

But thanks again, it was really comforting to read all your posts. were going to see mum today and if she goes to the ward she can open her xmas pressies!
