dd1 is ill, is achey on her shoulders and hips, says her ear hurts, has a headache, eyes hurt and says she is shivery.

what could it be? does it sound like the beginning of flu?

It sounds like the beginning of flu to me. You could check out NHS direct web site.

Have you taken her temperature, or given her any calpol. How old old is your dd ?
If you have any concerns see if you can get her in at the doctors

feastofsteven · 21/12/2005 10:06

Yep, things it sounds most like is flu to me. Any worries, I'ld get her to GP's given that it will be hard to over Xmas.

FairyTaleinNewYork · 21/12/2005 10:08

temp is 100.9f, she is asleep atm, but will give calpol when she wakes up.

don't want to frighten you more - but get them to check for meningitis

heavenis · 21/12/2005 11:02

I hope that they can give her something to make her feel better.
Let us know how you get on
I'll be thinking of you

FairyTaleinNewYork · 21/12/2005 11:05

NHS direct have already asked about rashes, but they are the last sympton to appear arent they? am already worried about it.

OP posts:
heavenis · 21/12/2005 11:07

FairyTaleinNewYork · 21/12/2005 11:08

heavenis · 21/12/2005 11:46

How did you get what did the doctor say

FairyTaleinNewYork · 21/12/2005 12:57

she has a throat infection ,hich is causing the high temp and the other sypmtoms. highly infectious.

OP posts:
throckenholt · 21/12/2005 13:27

glad it wasn't anything more sinister.

Hope the rest of you don't get it

heavenis · 21/12/2005 14:15

Glad that she will be ok.
Does this mean you won't be able to see Peter on christmas day.

FairyTaleinNewYork · 21/12/2005 14:21

yes, wont be at harefield over xmas. life jsut isnt easy these days. dd1 is now asleep, her temp is back up again, so am going to give her a small dose of neurofen (she is asthmatic so we dont usually give it to her, but she had it as a baby and was ok with it) and another dose of calpol.

OP posts:
ruty · 21/12/2005 14:30

that is rotten luck. So sorry.

FairyTaleinNewYork · 21/12/2005 14:59

her temp has gone up even higher. 102.3

OP posts:
ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 21/12/2005 15:04

Just keep her cool and keep giving nurofen and calpol or sponge her. 102 isn't dangerously high. Contact the doctor again if you can't get the temperature to at least stabilise or if it goes over 104. Poor you and dd.

FairyTaleinNewYork · 21/12/2005 15:05

i am. she is in my room with minimal clothing (she feels cold she says) and is dozing. have given nuerofen, am about to give medised in a moment. i know 102 isnt too high, but it has gone up since this morning.

OP posts:
ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 21/12/2005 15:09

Yes she is clearly getting worse, but you probably would expect that. If she were mine, I would hope to get the temperature to stablise and then expect it to go up again a bit this evening because everyone's temperature does a bit in the evening. Is she able to drink?

I was told by NHS direct to put a damp not cold flannel on them when they have a temp.
I hope her temp starts to settle, if your at all worried during the night ring NHS direct (they can arrange for a doctor to come to your home if needs be)Or ring the doctors out of hours surgery.
I hope you have a peacful night.
