Fxxxg embarrassing. I've heard that to pluck is risky. I've also had ingrown hair here. Thank god I'm anonymous. Tell me I'm not alone please.

I pluck
Do get ingrowers too though

Seona1973 · 01/10/2011 08:52

I cut them very short with sharp scissors

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/10/2011 17:24

I pluck, never had an ingrowing one.

jenniec79 · 01/10/2011 17:26

In what way risky?

Hassled · 01/10/2011 17:26

I'm a plucker, when I think to have a look. It's bloody horrible. Of all the places to have random hairs, your nipples have to be the worse.

RightUpMyRue · 01/10/2011 17:27

A major part of my job is breastfeeding support. I see A LOT of boobs. You are not alone. Smile

chocolateyclur · 01/10/2011 17:27

Pluck!

carpwidow · 01/10/2011 18:26

Many years ago a GP told me not to pluck as it could be related to breast cancer - that was in the days when they believed the world was flat though, so any medical people out there, please let me know.

Oh fucking hell i've been plucking for years....off to check my breasts for lumps now!!!

jenniec79 · 01/10/2011 19:20

carpwidow that's bonkers!

(Surgeon, but near enough!)

kblu · 01/10/2011 19:22

phew haha!

crispface · 01/10/2011 20:57

but what causes the hideous little fuckers? I've just developed one. I wouldn't mind if I were generally a hairy person, but I'm blonde, you can barely see the hairs on my arms/legs etc, and then I get a huuge black spiderleg coming from my nipple. Whats it all about?

Suckstobeme · 01/10/2011 20:58

Grin @ crispface!!

sevenoften · 01/10/2011 21:02

Electrolysis. That's all I have to say.

BikeRunSki · 01/10/2011 21:05

I am like crispface, and I pluck .

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 01/10/2011 21:08

I am also a not-very-hairy person, and have this problem. Even worse than the long spiderleg ones, is the one that it entirely white, and thicker and coarser than any other hair, anywhere on my body. Even dh's beard is softer, and you could scour pans with that. :(

I also pluck, and have been doing so for over a decade.

Electrolysis, you say? How long does the hair have to be for that, and is there a device one might use at home?

carpwidow · 01/10/2011 23:15

Mine are like fecking broom bristles Blush. I'm pale and gingery - never been able to grow a black hair in my life apart from there. Sell me to the circus with the bearded ladies Grin

OLKN - only has to be long enough to be visible above the skin. But don't waste your time on home devices - they don't work. You need a good operator who uses needles.

2-3 treatments will get rid of them. Forever. Until 10 years later new ones sprout. (10 good years, though!)

I would look for a properly trained operator here.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 02/10/2011 10:01

In my case the underlying cause of the coarse hairs was polycystic ovarian syndrome.
