Dd had chicken pox when she was 9 months old. quite mild iirc, but she has spots now. She has had them on the inner thigh for a few days but we honestly thought it was nanpy rash cos she has had a bit of that lately.

Dh noticed a few more (5-10) on her back and tummy last night, and this morning there sre some on her hands and feet.

Is there anything else it could be? (i just want to be sure what it is), and is it likely to be mild again????? aaarrrggghhh. It's nearly Christmas... why now???

I don't even know who she got it from. There have been no signs up at pre school, although I suppose it could easily be from toddlers as we wouldn't notice someone NOT being there iyswim...

she seems well in herself, says doeasn't feel poorly.......

Is it calamine and bicarb from here on in? (she's 2.5, and from trawling the archives, i saw that people mentioned eurax but said not til they are over 4...)

gawd..... i need to do shopping and stuff, and this is dh's busiest week at cburch... argh!!!!

It sounds like it. Ds has just got over chicken pox and to be honest it hardly effected him. I used eurax for the spots and bicarb in his bath. His spots got a bit sore so I gave him medised at night. In him self he was fine!

Ds had no signs of it - but the day I rang up to tell them about ds 3 others had also come down with it.

Hopefully by the time it gets to next weekend they will be at the fading stage. feel for you as I know what a nightmare all this is!

how old is he??? is eurax really not suitable for littlies?? (i have never heard of it before so don't even know what i'm looking for)

Sounds like it. This has just happened to a friend's son who had a few spots at 10mths. He's now 3 and down with it again.
DS is 11 mths and is just getting over the worst. He is one huuuuge spot.
Don't bother with calamine lotion. You need to apply this on cotton wool, which gets caught on the pimples [yuck]. You can get aqueous calamine cream from chemist, much better, just slather it on thickly.
I also used Eurax (available from a chemist, look near the Canestan!) on him despite age thing. Chemist said it was OK to use judiciously in under3s and I was desperate. I only applied it once in a 24hr period (at bedtime) and quite thinly.
If you don't know where she got it the chances are she won't have it that badly. AFAIK, the intensity of initial exposure has a direct link to how badly the child gets it. So DD caught it from nursery school, had it fairly lightly; DS caught it from her and bcs they spend so much time together has had heavy dose
Bicarb baths, Medised, Piriton/ibuprofen for the inflammation

thanks Baked potato!!!!!!!!!

that helps.... When dh gets back from church I'll dash to tescos and grab some stuff to have in stock for making her feel better.although a sign of how amazingly well she feels was that when i told her she was poorly cos she had spots she said she'd be all better after a ceral bar.

me thinks she may exploit this being told she's poorly but not feeling it.

you can get a tea tree cream to put on or it can be used neat topically (as can lavender) but probably best to dilute it with a neutral vegetable oil carrier
