Poor guy, he's soaking, with one armpit much worse than the other Confused. Anyone recommend a deodorant/AP that really works? Having daily showers and using a strong deo at the moment, but no luck so far...

Driclor or Mitchum are good.

Poor lad- hope you find a solution.

ChrissyHynde · 29/09/2011 17:52

Mitchum is really good

MangoMonster · 29/09/2011 17:59

mitchum deodorant is really good.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 29/09/2011 18:15

Thanks Smile

Are these just over the counter things? Heading to Boots on Saturday, do you think I'd get them there?

Boots does Mitchum.

Mabelface · 29/09/2011 18:21

Take him to the doctor. They may be able to prescribe some heavy duty anti-perspirant.

sleepevader · 29/09/2011 18:25

Supermarkets do Mitchum. Boots do driclor I think.

Good, will look at Boots. The GP is going to be the next step if I can't find anything over the counter that works. It's costing me a small fortune on school shirts - despite a 90 degree wash the pits are just manky. Poor lad Sad

I suffer from hyperhydrosis which is overactive sweat glands. Mitchum and driclor both work, I find mitchum better and easier to use. The doctor just prescribed me driclor. Mitchum is definately available over counter. I usually find it with the other deodorants on the shelf.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 29/09/2011 20:52

That's great Dragon, thanks so much Smile

Driclor stings like mad Shock well it does when I use it.

I have tried them all honestly. The Sure 48 hour protection one is good, its a cream and you can buy it in supermarkets. But the best I have found is the Vichy 48 hour - I buy it online and it really does work.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 30/09/2011 14:08

Oh no - Driclor stings?? I guess it's going to be a trial and error thing until we can find one that he gets along with. Thanks for the Vichy suggestion, will look into that Smile. I think I do feel a visit to the GP coming on though...

It stings like mad - makes my armpits feel as though they are on fire!

Some people are ok with it though so it may be worth a try. The Vichy one is really good - you can buy online from Lloyds chemist.

Driclor stings but Mitchum is good. The best, IMO, is Sure Maximum Strength £5.09 but lasts ages and kept me dry at a July wedding last year in 29* heat wearing silk. I was dry as a bone. Since then, I've not bothered with Mitchum again. Dove do a version too but it's girly smelling - Sure is neutral. DS1 (age 12) wears it on sports days at school - his hair will be saturated with sweat from running about but his armpits are dry and don't smell at all.

HTH.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 30/09/2011 19:07

Thanks Pinot - will look out for the Sure one tomorrow. I'm going to look odd with my basket brimming with deodorants Grin

Driclor camn sting at first but the skin gets used to it. I am very careful to only apply the two strokes each arm that the leaflet advises and that works well to minimise stinging.

Use vinegar on the underarm stains before you wash the shirts.

Sure max strength
Soak shirts in Napisan before washing - gets rid of everything!!

JoJoMummy321 · 24/11/2011 23:12

I use the Dove version of the Sure 48hr one that others have recommended. It does smell a little girly perhaps, but it works better than anything I've ever tried. I didn't think much of Mitchum in comparison. The Dove one (or Sure as I am sure they will work the same) is nice and gentle but keeps me 100% dry.
