My DS, aged 2, fell off his bicycle and banged his head. It bled a bit, then formed into a scab which has since come off and left a scar - any suggestions for reducing the scar or do u think it will just fade by itself in time? Vitamin E oil? thanks!

I was going to suggest bio oil which has vit E in it. Failing that creme de la mer (sp?) is very good, but very pricy!

Vit E cream or oil with a dab of lavender oil.

If money no object you could try Dermatix gel- expensive but worked wonders on a scar on my forehead.

arnica - or is that just bruises?

We were given a prescription for Dermatix Silicone Gel for ds2. Didn't realise it was so expensive. The consultant said it would help the scar fade quicker.

I had a scar on my face and I was recommended a cream here in France. It worked brilliantly. It is called Cicatrix. I will have a look to see what is in it. I might even have half a tube left, if you would like it...

Zinc-based creams v good for reducing scars (thick white ones - Sudocrem, for instance).

When ds had operations on his hands (aged 4 months) we were told to keep his scars well moisturised. I used E45 3 times a day, my mum used to put some of her oil of Ulay on him when she thort I wasn't looking.

When I was doing my ITEC beauty thing, we were taught, as budababe suggested, vitE. Capsules fine if just split and the oil applied. Lavendar also, an excellent aid to healing (Mum's an aromatherapist, or was anyhow, swears by it)

We got a vitamin A cream from Holland and Barrett for dd's chicken pox scars and to use on the scar ds has from cutting his ear.

U can also get plasters from elstoplast which claim to reduce scarring.

Good quality Rosehip oil (preferably cold pressed organic), add some vitamin E from a couple of capsules and add some lavender oil. Massage it in to the scar 2 or 3 times a day.
