Horrible PMT

Hi all, since having my DC2 and my periods returned my PMT has been a nightmare. I get really angry, depressed, anxious and that's for about 2 weeks, then i have my period for about a 1week. My actual period is a bit of relief to be honest. I feel like a different woman and feel that everything is ok again. The week before my period I feel so tense and emotional and every day i have cramps and i always think it has arrived when i go to the toilet but it's not. They are always bang on time.

What I need to find something that will relieve my PMT - is evening primrose still recommended and does it take ages to work? is there anything else that i can take?

MY DH has had enough of having the "real me" for a week a month. And I don't blame him.

Help please!!!!!

sorry another thing i forgot! i get a really horrible taste in my mouth every few days too. I wonder if its a hormone surge. Has anyone else had this? no matter what i eat it come back and it's like the taste you get when you are pregnant but I am not pregnant.

Acupuncture! I gad exactly the same thing before I had children. Blood tests showed a hormone imbalance, and the doctors thought I would have trouble conceiving.

I had 6 months of acupuncture, from a lady who specialised in hormone probs.

Two children later (no problems conceiving) I am still regular with almost no PMT.

The funny taste is what my acupuncturist called being "liverish".

I was in a right state this time last year. My GP sent me for counselling because it turned out I was bottling feelings and then unable to control my feelings around pmt time. The other thing that really helped me (and I mean really) was a magnesium supplement. I take 300mg a day, can buy it from Tesco and it's not expensive. It's on 3 for 3 at the moment.

I'd agree with the counselling - PMT exaggerates mood volatility.

Tbh, I've suffered for years with this, and have tried many supplements etc all with seemingly no impact. What HAS made an impact has been maintaining a really healthy diet, increasing exercise and cutting back on all the bad things I usually partake in.

Trouble is, it's the hardest to do around that time - feels like you're fighting against the hormones. I don't always succeed but the months where I really persevere, it definitely makes a difference.
