i had an ahem labial graze when I gave birth 6 weeks ago. has never bothered me at all and I assumed it was healed. but I am now rather swollen on one side (lord this is embarassing) such that it hurts to wear trousers! can't bear to go to the doc and parade my privates again - has anyone ever had anything so ungraceful? and do I need antibiotics or will it go away by itself? and if so, how long will it take?
I look like little and large down there.

right now I'll go and dig a hole and jump in it

yeah, me under general too. Also hazy for me - can't remember how long I was in for, but it was extremely painful afterwards too.

Agree with Hoxtonchick, you certainly know it when you've got it (don't want to make the obvious analogy, but I reckon they were about equal in pain!). But I remember living in a salt bath for about 24 hours before I was rushed into hospital. I just really hope that it isn't.

Let us know your progress. If you do have to have an op, let us know too, cos I would change a lot about what I did afterwards to help recover (like, I would do nothing, absolutely nothing).

any news pph?

mears · 24/10/2003 11:20

Just wondering that myself.

princesspeahead · 24/10/2003 11:26

hello!
well, it is a bartholinss cyst, and I am clutching a prescription for antibiotics (erythro) in case things turn nasty on the weekend. so far no sign of infection and I think things may be subsiding, but that may be wishful thinking.
have bought another two cartons of saxo as well!

so the saga continues...

Glad you have got it seen. Don't worry too much about the salt - hasn't been proven by research to make any difference. If you like it though, go ahead. The main thing is the antibiotic. Hope that clears it for you.

hoxtonchick · 24/10/2003 11:35

glad you know what it is now, pph. hope the antibiotics work.

CountessDracula · 24/10/2003 11:49

Poor you PPH, hope the hurty minge gets better soon!!

princesspeahead · 24/10/2003 17:51

lol countess. was thinking of sore snatch, but hurty minge is somehow more elegant!

Hope you're better soon, PPH. I've had a BC, too. Most embarrassing but even more embarrassing was how I acquired it. Although I am pretty much a non-bike rider I thought I would try out my ds's racing bike which he'd just had for Xmas. The saddle was like a blinkin' razor blade and two days later I was begging the Xmas duty Dr to see me!! A/b's cured it and it's never bothered me again. Haven't been on a bike, again, either.

Demented · 24/10/2003 22:48

Hope you are feeling better soon PPH.

Suedonim, your tale has put me off my bike!

fisil · 25/10/2003 14:17

Good luck with the antibiotics - and take it really easy! Suedonim - I was told that they don't really know what causes it, it's just bad luck!

Painful Privates?

I'm 101% sure of the cause of my agony, Fisil. I knew as soon as I got off the bike I'd done something to myself and it developed into an infection. I've never had it before or since. A male friend had similar 'gentleman' problems when he took up bikeriding so it seems it's not confined to women. I guess that's why gel bicycle saddles were invented.

princesspeahead · 25/10/2003 19:07

lol suedonim!

on yer bike

Delicate daisy? (my nursing friend always calls them daisies)

fisil · 27/10/2003 17:56

How is it PPH?

Blushing · 27/10/2003 17:56

How topical - I've just discovered a small lump on the outer lip of my vagina and I wonder if it is one of these cysts you mention. It's not at all painful though. Really don't want to go to the doctor but then again, after childbirth, nothing could really be worse!

princesspeahead · 27/10/2003 19:01

it is sort of grumbling away. still blocked but not infected, going down a bit but not gone away.
but I'm bored of salt baths so I've stopped those and I'll just see what happens I guess...
