My child was in and out of hospital when younger and nurses have been brilliant over the years. Some things like, on her birthday, making a big fuss over her and singing happy birthday really stick in my mind.

Now I'm starting a nursing degree myself I would really appreciate it if you shared what small things can make you feel better when you or someone you love is ill.

TIA

I had a gastroscopy last year, and oped out of the sedation. I went into shock and couldn't breathe but I had a fantastic nurse that stood with me, stroked my face and talked to me constantly til it was over. And then I threw up all over the poor lady! It takes a special kind of nurse to take that kind of thing and carry on smiling!

Then the was the nurse that sat and held me while my 3 day old DS had seziure after seziure and had to be sedated to stop it. Then took me for a cuppa in the canteen while the dr performed a lumbar puncture on him. Then sat with me and DH while the dr explained to us the reason that DS was fitting was because though he was latching on and nursing fine, I was producing something more akin to water than milk and the poor child was starving. Obviously I felt terrible about it, but she sat and soothed me til I got a grip

The simple fact that you have come and asked shows that you care and want to get it right. Good luck with your chosen career, I think you're going to be great
