Cannonball poo!!

Best description I can think of for ds's poos at the moment.
He has baby porridge for breakfast, fruit for lunch and veg for tea, plus formula throughout the day. I've tried giving him water but he's not too impressed.
Is there anything I should / shouldn't feed him to help things along, as it were?
Thanks!

Prune juice is good (diluted)

Try giving him 1/2 the quantity of porridge, and mix it with stewed fruit - baby jars are fine. If it's bought porridge, rather than home-made, check that it is really oats, because if it is mostly, say, rice, then it may be constipating rather than the opposite.

Olive oil, prunes, soft fruits, oats move things along.
White rice (all forms), bananas, carrots and apples (for some people) slow things down.

If he won't take water try herb tea - chamomile and fennel are good options.

Been there!

Water! It will make things worse if you feed him loads of fibre and no water. Can you make his baby porridge with water and a bit of stewed fruit? (I recommend Tescos tins of fruit compote, pureed)

Prune juice also works wonders as CD says.

Agree with the advice here - we always give mashed prunes. Stay away from bananas and apples. Diluted juice also seems to help.

How old is he?

I've got a thread on Special Needs and somewhere else called Painful Stools where I got loads of great advice. One of the things I was told was if his fibre intake is too great it makes the poos large.

Anything cooked in fresh orange juice is good so try butternut squash or sweet potato boiled in OJ.

Avoid banana's and apples.

Prunes and dried apricots good too. Soak them in water as he'll take in more water too that way.

if unimpressed with water, just this once maybe trying poutting brown sugar in it to make him take it. Not great i know but it'll help his poo.
Thre may be better ways of getting him to take water. How about herbel tea drinks - like fennel?

My ds has the same problem, and I was told to put a teaspoon of oil in each of his meals to at least help it pass without him bursting blood cells in his eyelids. Like other have said I was told to avoid bananas, apples, carrots and potatoes too!
