Can be. Have you any other symptoms?

FrostyTheRickman · 09/12/2005 13:50

Normally it stings when you wee and you want to go all the time, although quite often you don't actually wee much when you go.

MARINAtivityPlay · 09/12/2005 13:51

On the occasions when I've had this it has been very painful to wee by this point - really agonising.

MascaraOHara · 09/12/2005 13:51

I've had it before but it was much more uncomftable than this. Have a DRs appointment later as last time I had it (years and years ago) it took me 2 weeks!!! to get an appointment, GP went mad and said that if I ever got it again to get an emergency appointment.

Never had blood last time though?!?!? Also if it is and it's just coming on would rather get the antibiotics today than suffer all weekend! Last time I had it, it was awful.

yes I know it can be awful the one time I had it before I can remember actually crying because of it. Also remember making the boyf stop on side of M6 as couldn't bare or hold it anymore and there was no services for miles!

Oh yes, it is awful isn't it? I have had it many times, though not for many years. I always used to get it on the Saturday of a Bank Holiday (or so it seemed) so the doctor was never available.

Don't worry unnecessarily about the blood. That is just another possible symptom and does not necessarily mean you have anything more serious.

MascaraOHara · 09/12/2005 13:55

So sorry about the title as well, I could have been a little more grown up with my language couldn't I something like "Is blood in urine a common sign of a bladder infection"

Should add I'm not weeing blood but there is definitely blood in my wee iyswim

Lonelymum - poor you having it loads!

Can you get a doc's appt? This can be beyond horrible. You prob already know to drink until you are sick of drinking. Lemon barley water if you have any, but if it's got to the agony stage you prob need antibiotics to shift it.

Commiserations, it's vile.

MascaraOHara · 09/12/2005 13:58

not agony as yet and hope GP will give me something tonight so it doesn't get too bad!

Ah but I am OK now MOH as my repeated attacks turned out to be caused by a huge growth on my kidney - don't panic, exceptionally rare! - so at least I don't get the cystitis anymore (though I did have a few attacks when I used tampons late in a period - do you do that?) Anyway, my point is, my repeated attacks were caused by something that has been sorted now, but there are some poor women out there who just get cystitis and can't do anything about getting it. (beyond normal preventative measures)

chipmonkeys37today · 09/12/2005 14:01

Antibiotics straight away and loads of cranberry juice! Commiserations, have had it twice and that was more than enough!

MascaraOHara · 09/12/2005 14:24

great Anti-biotics here I come.

Glad everything's sorted now LM.

I once had the worst cystitis on holiday in Greece. The doctor who saw me said (I shall never forget) - in a thickly Cypriot accent 'Is your urine like congac?'

Drink plenty of water too MOH.
