Tears

This is probably a really stupid question....

when do babies start crying tears? I ask because in the last week my dd (13 weeks) has started to cry real tears and I was wondering whether she's more upset now than she used to be, or whether some physiological/developmental change has occurred.

It may be coincidental, but she had her 2nd jabs last week. I've noticed that on each occasion she has seemed fine at first, but a couple of days later has backtracked on some recently acquired skill - head control worsened last time, has stopped cooing this time. (hopefully temporary like with head control).

Any ideas mumsnetters?

My no1 didn't cry real tears until he was at least 2m old. No2 on the other hand cried real tears within a few days of birth. It is something to do with development of the tear glands. Curiously, no1 didn't dribble until a couple of months old either, whereas no2 could dribble for England from the day she was born.

Thanks Twiglett and boyandgirl. Hopefully she'll be cooing with the best of them soon.
