What is strange muscular spasmodic pain in DH's foot?

DH's foot started hurting for no apparent reason today.

It feels like a pulled muscle but he hasn't as far as he knows pulled one.

He says it feels "tight" and kept going into spasms which is weird!
It doesn't feel like cramp, it hurts like an injury.

We had to change our plans today because they depended on him driving and also he was in pain!

Obviously if it doesn't go away he'll go to the Dr on Monday, but after a day of this it seems to be getting better now so I don't think he'll need to.

I just wondered if anyone else knew what it might be.
It's weird as he hasn't injured it!

possibly a plantar fasciitis.
no obvious injury with that but maybe a change in footwear or activity or weight maybe.
plantar fasciitis tends to hurt most on getting up in the morning or after resting for a long period.

An impressive name! Thanks nevergoogle (and I did google you-know-what before! oh dear! I should have followed your advice Wink )

Off to google plantar fasciitis now and then interrogate DP Grin

Sugar that does sound like it. DP was doing 13 hour days on his feet, moving heavy shit about (backstage at a festival) for a several days last week, and he hasn't done it in a while.

[[http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Plantar-Fasciitis.htm This article says it can last for months! I really hope not, it doesn't look like fun at all.

Is it typical for it to last for months?

it can. but it's worth seeing a podiatrist or physio to get it checked out.
there's taping that can help, gel heel cups, stretching exercises for your foot and calf, my favourite is rolling a cold can from the fridge under your foot.
and try rest and ice.

obviously impossible to diagnose from here but get a physio referral is my advice.
