i've only ever had very mild eczema, usually triggered by certain soaps. for about two weeks now i have noticed eczema first on my hands, spreading to arms, chest and back and now also on my legs. it's very itchy. i've never had it this bad, usually just get little patches on my arms and hands. i was wondering if it has anything to do with being pregnant...?

It could do - mine gets MUCH better when I'm pregnant, so I'm sure the pg hormones have an effect on it.

omg! this has happened to me too! i never had eczema ever, but now have it quite bad on my forearms, knees and my sides, been to the doctor today and got some cream, but not proper eczema cream as can't have the one with steroids in at the moment.

Oh, try Aveeno cream for it - fab stuff!

I had it very badly when I was pregnant the first three times. (Cracking on the fingers etc)
Fourth time round I didn;t get it. The only difference I can think of is that I had cut wheat and dairy out of my diet. (BTW my asthma disappeared around the same time).
Worth a try perhaps? I was making bread with spelt flour or buying rye (bit yucky) and eating goat stuff instead of dairy.

i've just been using aqueous cream, as it's the only thing i found in the house that didn't sting as i put it on.
i do eat a lot of wheat and dairy!

I'm a lifelong sufferer of eczema and it got worse when pregnant with dd and much better when pg with ds! According to my dermatologist you can use steroid creams when pg as they don't cross the placenta but obviously you'd need to speak to your doc.. I use Dermatique which is non steroid and has definately helped to ease the discomfort.
