How long should mozzie bites itch for and what the bloody hell can I use to stop the buggers driving me utterly insane?

Forin mozzies they was.

2 weeks ago the fuckers dined on my sweet tasting blood.
I have tried....

A daily anti-histamine (which I take anyway)

One of those electric clicky things (expensive yet rubbish)

That After-bite pen thing (stinks and rubbish)

Lavendar oil (smells nice but rubbish)

HELP!

They are still raised red bumps with the tops scratched off and they itch like Billy-O

I mentioned it timidviper but was roundly ignored Grin

I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago, bit my bum and all down the back of my leg! Mine didn't go away for over a month. Plus they were huge.

I used Sudocrem on mine but Eurax is good stuff to stop the itch!

\link{http://tipnut.com/over-40-mosquito-bite-itch-relief-tips/\40 home remedies} (from the US though so possibly some will not be available in your home store cupboard Wink)

Are you still itching? How many have you got? Are they all clustered together?

I've just returned from holiday to find that DP and I are covered in bed bug bites (which we thought were mossie bites) and are now on antihistimines, antibiotics and steroid creams.

Good luck!

lostmymind · 15/08/2011 00:41

eewww at the bed bugs, my personal nightmare.

OP try Benadryl ointment

After 3 years in the tropics - spit and rub, spit and rub. It works.

earlybird's thumbnail in the bite is a 100% winner. Works every time and costs nowt.

AYC I'm a bit late on here, but to avoid getting bitten next time you need citronella oil from the chemist. Brilliant stuff and smells lovely.

I was recommended to use it whilst in the caribbean.

One of the consultants at work said take piriton.
Came back from Greece last October with more bites than I can ever remember from a holiday, and having to wait an extraordinary long time for bags at Gatwick and the inside of my ankles itching like buggery. Stood there rubbing my ankles together like a cricket couldn't be bothered to keep bending down to scratch ankles with fingers.
Wil take piriton on holiday this year and spray and funny little electrical gadget that I'm not sure works!

follyfoot · 17/08/2011 21:41

You stopped itching yet AYC?

Ponders · 17/08/2011 21:53

bearcat, little clicky thing works like a dream if you can get it on the bite as soon as the little bastard mozzie has bitten you - otherwise, not so good (but even so DS2 uses it a lot when he does have a bite & I don't see him scratching so much)
