I've had a horrendous headache the last few days, been unable to focus or move my head, been sick and unable to sleep. I swear, it felt like a red hot ball was trying to push my eyes out from the inside.

Anyway, took some hardcore painkillers that I normally use for my ribs and I can at leat see straight today but headache is still throbbing away, ready to pounce, yet nowhere near as bad.
But I feel v dehydrated despite drinking gallons and am very weepy, just had a mini row with ds(6) and I broke down in tears. Is this normal? Its been a while since I've had a migraine and I can never remember anything abouth the couple of days after.

Yes, its normal, poor you. Painkillers are probably responsible for some of it, especially if codeine was involved - always makes me feel dehydrated afterwards.

Be very gentle with yourself for a day or two!

Thank you, yep I've been taking half my usual dose (but still high) co-codomol and ibuprofen. Headache is creeping back though and tongue feels numb and detached/swollen. 4 days and counting!

This is a migraine isn't it?

Sounds like migraine, keep drinking water and try if you can to cut back on the pain killers to lessen the chances of a rebound headache. Can you eat? because you need to keep your blood sugar levels up as low blood sugar can also make migraine worse. I normally feel quite hung over and emotional after a migraine. Look after yourself.

Bugger, but thanks. Am drinking constantly, but am still thirsty, dh is cooking lunch so I think I will eat then go for a lie down and a whimper. I feel so bloody feeble.

Dehydration is very typical of my migraines. The teariness is more the co-codomol ime.
I find after a bad migraine, I feel tender in my head for a day or two, so very little can set it off again.

I went to the doctor after a particularly nasty migraine and just sat there and wept for half an hour. Terribly embarrasing. I'm always emotional for a couple of days afterwards, and my blood sugar levels crash frequently leaving me with the shakes and the possibility of another migraine. I feel almost 'poisoned' for a couple of days afterwards, I try to drink lots, eat sensibly and regularly and take a big dose of vitamin C in the morning. I also try to go for gentle walks. But if you're still feeling crap tomorrow I'd go and see the doctor. After my half-hour weepy I got sent to a specialist for the first time ever (I've been having migraine for 39 years) and although he didn't come up with any definitive answers it was really good to talk it through with someone knowledgeable and be told I wasn't losing my marbles.

Wow, thank you. Swallowed, that's exactly how I feel. My hands are numb, my joints are swollen and painful and I'm shaky.

I will see the gp if I don't feel better tomorrow though, I'm definately having a bit of a relapse. Can't drink enough or eat.
