Can/should you brush a dental abscess?

Possibility of a dental abscess ( no dental appointments till thurs so not sure atm). It started as very painful tender tooth yesterday, hurt to bite down etc, but that has gone now. Brushed gum as normal last night, woke up this morning and although pain is much less and biting down doesn't hurt, there is a lump / swelling on the gum. Didn't brush the area this morn and covered in bonjela. Should it be brushed or better off left alone? Might not even be an abscess but won't know that till thursday!

I'd suggest you brush the tooth but not the abscess - imho there is a risk of causing it more damage and infection. Plus the fact it will hurt like #;[=%$.
Easily treated with antibiotics and dental treatment if that's what it is. Good luck :)

PS - corsodyl mouthwash is good. Have used it after many mouth ops when I couldn't brush at all.

Thank you. Havne't got any adult mouth wash at home, would the aquafresh kids one work?

Corsodyl is amazing stuff. Combine (grotty tasting) toothpaste and mouthwash and honestly it will make a difference.
