Tie all children to a radiator and have a snooze .

jolou1 · 15/10/2003 11:12

I seem to get it every time I have a head cold and it's absolutely awful. I get tablets from the quack which really knock the sickness on the head but I'd be very interested in any natural /home rememdies which would eradicate the need for a dizzy stagger to the surgery?!

codswallop · 15/10/2003 11:14

I didnt realsie it was so common! thanks all

codswallop, you poor thing. I had this last year and it took weeks to get over it. Very nasty indeed.

Nome · 15/10/2003 13:29

Yes, miserable. If you're asleep you don't notice the dizziness...Ben and Jerry's is almost as good as being asleep. Esp. if you refuse to share

suedonim · 15/10/2003 14:01

Yes, and it's horrible and very frightening, so you have all my sympthay, Codswallop. I couldn't move my head even a fraction of a millimetre without throwing up. The only plus side was that an absolutely gorgeous young Dr came to see me. Shame I was in bed, clutching a sick bowl.

codswallop · 15/10/2003 16:02

felling better this pm - hope it doesnt reoccur

Jolou - yes there are remedies out there for sure. You can check with a cranial osteo (if you believe in them), surely a homeopath, I know that Accupressure works very well and I have also found that taking an additional Pro-Antho supplement is very helpful. I take a capsule which is a combination of Pycogenol (10Mg), Grape Seed Extract (50 mg), GreenTea (75 Mg) and Milk Thistle (10Mg). I don't believe it taking anything all the time, so I usually just start to take it when I feel it coming on, like a booster shot. Of course, when I was pregnant, I was afraid to take much of anyting not knowing how it would effect the baby. Coddy doesn't have to worry about this right now!

I never had it until I moved to Florida, and I believe that I must have an allergy to some of the molds here. I mentioned to Coddy about a simple massage to do on the other thread. The problem with the meds is that it sometimes takes two weeks or more to get rid of the fluid, with the other rememdies, I have found that it gets rid of it fasterboth of the methods work, I am not against Western Medicine in the leastI always just want relief quickly! I always get this too when I have sinus/headcoldsthe dizziness is a tripbut you learn to deal with itespecially if your DH is gone! You just can't turn your head quickly, can't look up or down without holding onto something, and I found it best to sleep with a cervical pillow with a smaller pilow underneath so that I was never lying flatit seemed to take me much longer to get up and stop spinning when I was laid flat. Really scarey when you are sleeping and you whip your head around too as was mentioned here too!
So glad you are stating to feel a bit better Coddy!

codswallop · 16/10/2003 12:28

feel worse today.

sunchowder · 16/10/2003 14:02

Coddy, it is always worse in the morning luv, you will feel better this afternoon (it is already afternoon there now). Are you massaging the crap out of your neck? Please try to do this when you can remember--it will make a difference for you. I posted a bunch of other stuff there in general, but I don't know if it was too lefty, hippie, flower-child, California-strange for you or it you found it worthwhile. I do hope you feel better now. The mornings were always worse for me.
