Puffy face/eyes during/after virus in 2 year old?

I took DD (23 months) to the GP today, as she's broken out in a rash on her tummy and back following three days of fever and general off-colour behaviour. I thought she was on the mend, as her appetite seems to be improving today - though she's still very tired - mostly took her to get feedback on infectivity as I'm a novice at rashes. Happened to mention to GP that DD had puffy eyes/face for last few days, especially in the morning or after a nap....and GP is concerned about kidney function.
I've spent the last two hours reading books to DD sat on potty (her, not me) and did manage to get a sample (first pee in pot, yahoo) so will know more tomorrow but am a bit freaked out...does anyone have experience of puffiness in a toddler that isn't kidney related? I sort of thought it went with being coldy/unwell, but have to admit I've never seen her quite like this before...

eeeks not sure I can offer any specific advice but just wanted to let you know someone had read it
DD got very puffy and bunged up with measles but she was really ill as well.
I guess the sample should come back pretty quickly, did the GP offer any further info?
Hope she gets better, let us know when you get your results back too, once you have some more info you might get a lot more advice.
xxxx

Thanks, E, appreciate you taking time to post! GP dipped pee, all is well - phew. She is super efficient and superserious so had me a bit worried. DD still slightly puffy, but definitely on the mend - think she probably had roseola. xxC

Definitely get her kidneys checked as puffiness is often present with kidney problems I suffered from post strep/scarlet fever kidney failure which could have been avoided had it been treated as a child but it never was

Wow, that sounds rough NH, to put it mildly. DD's pee dip test was clear, so the GPs are unconcerned - and the puffiness seems to have gone now that she's finally on the mend. Having googled a lot, I think she might have had roseola - says that puffy eyes can be part of it. Did you have puffiness that stayed, or came and went, if you don't mind me asking? Its good to be informed...
