How best to help friend - mastectomy?

One of my best friend's has breast cancer and is having a double mastectomy and reconstruction at the same time. Luckily its not spread and so once that is all done and dusted she'll be in the clear.

I want to help and support her in any way I can. And obviously I will ask (and respect!) her wishes.

I'm trying to wrack my brain to think of what I can do to help. Visiting (as and when she wants), offered to look after DC, obv chatting, etc. But if you've had something similar or have a friend who has, is there anything that you really appreciated - emotionally or practically - that helped, even a little bit. Meals cooked? Just being treated normally? Anything that helped to make the recovery more comfy?

poor friend- and how lovely of you to be thinking of her - if you nip over to tamoxifen thread you'll find lots of people who have been through similar and will be able to advise. I think that just knowing you're there is brilliantly helpful. She won't be able to drive or lift for a while, so maybe help with getting about/shopping is practical. Lots of good thoughts to her .
