My 10 yr old dd ran into a wall 6 weeks ago and hurt her hand. she had a tubigrip on it for 24 hours from the school nurse. She still says it hurts, has fallen on it once more playing netball, and once jumping off her friend's bed. Each time she said it hurt quite a bit. It hurts if I press on the top of the wrist, and underneath if she flexes it. There is no swelling. She says the pain throbs when it hurts. 6 weeks seems a long time for a strain. Any ideas/ advice appreciated, as I don't want to sit in A&E waiting for an x ray unless its indicated. What does anyone think might be wrong? Thanks

Six weeks is a long time and given that she's given it a bit of a battering, she may have injured it again just when it was healing. Maybe a fracture. Call NHS Direct and see what they say about casualty, or your GP in the morning.

when my mummy was a little girl she broke her leg but her mum wouldnt believr her...

about 5 weeks later she was finally taken to hospital and it was broken but had already started healing tiself so they didnt do anything

me grandmother felt awful for moaning at my mum to stop winging about it etc! I think its def worth a quick trip to get it x rayed etc so you know for sure
