Have u found a medicine that actually works for a tickly cough??

No, I haven't, I asked GP for one for ages until she told me: "Look, coughing happens for a reason, it helps to clear his chest. I wouldn't advise you to use one, I wouldn't use it in my own children". She was very convincing...

thats interesting, I had never even thought of that. Just horrible to hear them sturglling at night....i might avoid using anything with this in mind....

Boots sore throat and cough linctus. Does not stop them coughing as such but does help alleviate soreness. I use this if she's had the cough for more than 4 days or so together with paracetemol supension if needed.

as for the GPs comments regarding coughing for a reason. This may be true but that does not mean it's not painful, distressing or miserable for the child suffering.

the best thing for a tickly cough in babies, ime, is a humidifier in the bedroom. alternatively, place some wet towels over the radiators in her room overnight - the steam really helps to clear the chest. hth.

hot water and manuka honey got rid of mine but dont think honey is recommended for under 1's

i bought DD some good old butter cup syrup, seemed to help, prob full of sugar though, but it was horrible to hear her little voice all sore!!

Oh yes, how could I forget... the humidifier makes all the difference, and if it's a "wet" cought it helps lots to have her upper half higher than her legs (pillow under the cot mattress?)

in bed and one hour after coughing terribly bless her i am going up with a big bowl of hot steamy water....her room is only small so hopefully shouldnt take long for it to help....fingers crossed. thanks for the suggestion

my son had the same problem when he was 7-10 months. use the humidifier & put a bowl of water inside the room will help!!!

also, try to avoid offering cold drink & fruit & foods. i tell you, it'll def. make the difference!

room temp. is okay, but not something straight out of the fridge!!
