Breast pain, weird sensations and advice needed please!

I posted two weeks ago as I had some pain in my left breast around the time of my period. Went to the doctors, he said there was some tense tissue, but nothing too sinister and to come back in two weeks.

Just been back as the ache is still there (more sometimes than others) and have been referred to the breast clinic. The doctor said he couldn't feel any lumps and it's probably nothing too sinister but safer to rule it out entirely.

I'm wondering if it could be down to hormones, or my bra being too tight? Am also slightly confused by the feeling occasionally that is exactly like the let down reflex when breastfeeding?! Obviously nothing is letting down - I stopped feeding a year ago but it's the same strange tingle.

Has anyone had any experience of this? Any idea what might be causing it? Thanks in advance...

Can't really help with the let down sensation but I did have persistant pain in my left breast that also ended up being checked out at the breast clinic. They found some hormonal changes in the painful area and after a mammogram and ultrasound said there were several small cysts in that area that were nothing to worry about.

As it is persistant then you are obviously doing the right thing by getting it checked but try not to worry as the breast specialist nurse I saw said that breast pain was hardly ever a symptom of anything sinister.

Thank you Winetime - that's a bit of a relief! I'm hoping it's just a hormonal thing. Glad you were alright. How was the mammogram, I hear they're quite painful?

Maybe write out all your questions now, put them in your bag ready to go, then forget about it
If you've never been to a clinic before, they are truly the fount of all knowledge, and I guarantee that you will get all your answers and be absolutely sure of your breast health status by the time you leave.
If it's anything like the clinics I have attended they are completely professional and knowledgeable, aNd will have a straight answer for you

It is a bit uncomfortable, but over quite quickly, although I ended up being called back in from the waiting room for an extra mammogram as one of the images wasn't clear enough.

I'm sure you'll get some reassurance at the breast clinic. everyone at mine was great - the breast specialist nurse was especially wonderful as with the lightest of touches she found the hormonal changes in the painful area and after all the tests was emphatic that there was nothing to worry about. I still get the pain but now realise that stress was making it worse as it hardly bothers me at all now.
