Abdominal pain for 36 hours now - how long until it drives me crazy?

I have no appendix. No V or D. Just a horrible continuous pain. First of all I thought it could be food poisoning or even an allergy - but it's gone on too long to be either of those things.

I've seen emergency doc who says it could be my ovaries, has taken urine sample and a swab (I have an IUD).

I would have thought that if someone was in pain (and by the time he had finished prodding me I was in tears) and you had ruled out any obvious non serious stuff then just sending them home still in pain was a bit of a funny thing to do.

I gave birth with no pain relief but that was over in 14 hours - 36 hours is really getting me down.

Doctor didn't mention them, only ovaries.

Pain lessened (or maybe I've got used to it) can only feel it really bad now if I touch my stomach. I am going to my own GP in an hour.

3 days for swabs, blood normal, pg test negative, urine normal.

GP reckons as I am mid cycle (I have long cycles) a small cyst on my ovary could have ruptured and the pain is the material being absorbed into body. Should settle in a couple of days if this option.

He also said it could be a virus, as the abdomen could swell like any other part.

Gallbladder completely painless - about the only part that it.

You should have been admitted to the hospital's gynae ward at the time. A great pity this did not happen. If this is still continuing then you should be admitted.

I am in NZ and so ultra sounds etc. can be done privately in a lovely comfy radiology centre. They believe that people feel better at home unless they cannot physically look after themselves. I would have resisted hospital admission strongly unless I need an operation. If the matter is just going to absorb then I might as well carry on working (I work from home), which takes my mind off it.

If it carries on, or I get a fever or feel "unwell" (as opposed to pain) then I have been told to go to A&E.
