she has had a nasty cough for a few days, but tonight it bought on an attack (she has had asthma since she was a baby) gave her 8 puffs of her inhalor and it seems to have settled her down. just keep having to go in tocheck her breathing. her last major attack was about 3years ago, so cant remember if i need ti take her in. i'll take her to clinic in the morning.

misdee can I pick your brains. DS2 is borderline asthmatic (gets wheezy when he has a cough- has a cough every winter all winter). he;s started tongiht having been fine all summer. I've lost his spacer- will go to the docs next week, but what age can they start just using the inhaler with no spacer?

tbh it depends on the child. dd1 still uses a spacer as she finds it easier, but if i lose it (or all 3, yes we have that many lol, ones at school, 2 at home) then she will try and do it without, i press it for her tell her to take a big breath in as i reach 3 (3 is when ipress it) and then hold it for a few seconds. asthma nurse also said your could get a small plastic/paper disposable cup and cut a hole in the end to fit the inhalor in as a make shift spacer. hth

Thanks misdee. Tonight I just puffed it in front of his face and told him to breath in (he's 3) but he didn't like it. Will try the cup tomorrow then docs next week! It's so big- can't believe I've lost it!

i know. i have a wall box from ikea (black box with huge red ring round it) which is high up in the girls room so i am trying to remember to put the inhalor and eczema creams in there when i'm done. most of the time iremember.
