Noticed in the archived messages talk about cardiomyopathy. LGJ has the same as me. I developed this after the birth of my twins. I also have an irregulat heartbeat. Was wondering if you'd like to compare notes, or anyone else with the same problem.
Thanks

My heart has never restricted me much in terms of energy, stamina etc although I've got to say I'm not the fittest of people, I reckon that has got more to do with my lifestyle though It must be very difficult to have to limit your activites, you've certainly had your fair share of bad health.

i think i'm lucky that i don't need to take medication for svt, only when i'm having an episode to stop it, usually verapamil. didn't have any problems during pregnancy but there were a few concerns when i had a missed mc and had a d&c as it was the first time i'd had a general anasthetic. i saw a spcialist when i was pg for the first time to find out if i should expect any problems during labour as stress is usually a trigger for it, it was fine though. but just in case, i would never consider a home birth.

was on beta blockers once but they made me feel very strange, didn't like it at all.

I do everything I have to whilst my tablets are in full swing if you get what I mean and so I don't feel limited

Yes, I've certainly gained weight. It's just creeping up all the time. Not sure what to blame it on though - medication; early menopause; twin birth; lack of excercise amd sedentary lifestyle. I mentioned the frusemide in my last post and how I'd like to start them again to lose weight so I mentioned it to doc the other day and he told me to go ahead.
Don't know if it's coincidence but my heart has felt more 'comfortable'; not the usual struggling feeling I have. Can't see the weight falling off like it did after twins were born. Hopefully my clothes will feel less tight in a couple of weeks.
Depressing to think you'll be taking pills all your life but when I think back to lying in that hospital bed in the high dependancy ward - I'm just grateful to be alive

Linniee

I know this is an old message, but I was searching the archive as I too have peripartum cardiomyopathy and it sounds like we have both been through a similar experience. I suffered just over 2 1/2 years ago after the birth of my baby and was critically ill for a long time.
I have made an amazing recovery and have managed to get my life back on track infact most people don't even know I have a condition and are surprised when I tell them. I am so amazed to have found someone with the same condition.
