Okay, I'm mithering now but I'm tired and bored: how long did it take you to get off the sofa after laparoscopy?

I had my op on Tuesday and am still pole-axed & dizzy, proper wet rag behaviour. I had a shower and made toast for DS & myself this morning and had a lovely 2 hour nap afterwards to recover. Not like me at all. I'm not exactly over-active normally, but this is silly.

What was your recovery time like, for a normal minor procedure that didn't lead to horrific infection or complications? Don't be telling me about running a marathon after having triplets by X-section, either. I have relatives doing that job for me already.Hmm

How about 1 carton of orange juice, 1 banana & 1 nectarine?

Am worried I will end up like Elvis at this rate...

Codeine is horribly constipating. Nasty stuff.
I've had umpteen laparoscopies, virtually all were fine and I was back on my feet/to work two days later. One, had me on my knees. The surgeon hadn't let all the gas out and the pain was incredible.
If you need time off work, take it.

This is all really interesting - I'm having a laparoscopy a week Saturday to remove what they think is a dermoid cyst (or it could be endo or a fibroid - two consultants, two ultrasounds, a CT scan and an MRI later, they're still not sure...).

I've got an 11m old baby - how long to people think I'll realistically need help with her for? She's breastfed other than her solid meals, and I can plan in advance to make sure I won't need to go shopping for food/nappies etc.

So far, nearly a week & still knackered out. Work are being v understanding, though, which is nice. I feel like a massive fraud until I need to lie down to recover from, say, having a shower or making a sandwich.

And I don't want to overshare, but if I can help it I will never, ever be constipated again. Childbirth was more fun.

No operation pain now, though, and my stitches look hilarious: I have a normal tummy with a bruise on it, in the middle of which is a piece of knotted white cotton.

Had my gall bladder out 2 weeks ago. Felt really pathetic for two days after. I'd also told my boss I'd be back two days after op, jeez that was my ignorance.

I had a fair about of pain for the first week and didn't drive until about 10 days after. I think I could have gone back to work then but had a sick cert for two weeks.

Lots of fruit and veg and keeping hydrated sorted out my number twos tmi. Didn't have one for about 5 days!!!!!!

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. See, I think gall bladder removal is loads more hardcore than a mere laparoscopy. You've actually had an organ removed (blurgh), whereas all that's happened to me is that someone has had a wee look in there & zapped 1mm cubes of endometriosis. Wussy or what?

And yyy to the constipation. Oh, it's so horrible, isn't it? I remember flinching as a teenager when my grandma would go on about the need for prune juice etc, and now here I am, not only sending DH to the shops for lactulose, but also talking about my bowels to strangers on the internet.

I'm only 33!

Do you know, my "get well soon" treat, which I will start on as soon as I have the energy, is to start making a patchwork quilt. Not a night out with friends, not new shoes, no. Patchwork. I'm actually looking forward to getting to the library to borrow books on quilting.
