dont let her be in charge? rofl. i can only assume dr doesnt have kids or is a complete idiot

have you tried putting a smartie in the middle of a spoon of medicine so to get the smartie she has to take the medicine and she gets an immediate treat for doing so? keep a bucket on standby by just in case

Ibuprofen syrup for children comes with that syringe-type thingie. You draw out the goo, put the syringe-type thing to the back of their mouth, then shoot the goo in; they swallow instantly. They cannot spit it out. I wonder if chemist could help you with something similar for your meds?

Mixing it in with yoghurt? or porridge? Ice-Cream? Baked Beans?

does she have a dummy? can you wait until she is asleep and then swap it for one of those dummy medicine dispensers?

I have to say though, that if ds was that poorly and i couldnt get ab's into him i would be more than willing for him to go into hospital

beansontoast · 20/11/2005 21:50

this may be RIDICULOUS advice...but when my ds is half asleep[ie we sit him up when hes sleeping] he will drowzily take meds from a syringe..

good luck x

whos going to be sleeping with tonsilitis!!??

zebratwizzler · 20/11/2005 21:50

Could you heavily dilute it and give it to her in very small sips of liquid... might take a while, but she'll get some eventually?

i do sympathise, mine were on antibiotics every day til they were 5 and they also hated them.

could the dr give you a different type? i love some flaours and passionately hate others. i also had one type that made me throw up within 2 minutes of taking it. mnight be worth asking (different dr if poss)

gigglinggoblin · 20/11/2005 21:52

take her back to hospital then... just say she won't take them. i really think that's what i would do...

gigglinggoblin · 20/11/2005 21:54

if she is actually sick and not just awkward i would guess its not her fault. i was older when i had the stuff that made me throw up and i really wasnt faking

hmmm i think i would leave her if she is asleep... and go in the morning...
unless you think she will get worse overnight?

at our a&e you go into the main one but kids get seen immediately... so you may not have that long to wait.
