My eye keeps twitching/flickering. I have to go to work soon, that is wrong?

HarrietJones · 20/06/2011 13:00

It's often a stress thing?

tiggersreturn · 20/06/2011 14:09

I get it with dryness in the winter. If you're worried make a GP appointment.

speculationisrife · 20/06/2011 14:12

D'you mean your eyelid. I get this when I'm tired/stressed/drunk too much coffee. I once had a twitching upper eyelid for two months after I started a new job - not constant, it came and went, but I'd have several episodes a day. Is this the kind of thing you mean...?

Flyonthewindscreen · 20/06/2011 14:18

Do you mean your eye-lid? Mine twitch when I'm really tired.

TheOriginalFAB · 20/06/2011 16:39

Yes, eye lid Blush. It is quite annoying.

I get that when I'm tired or stressed. I used to get it alot when I had PND. I googled alot at the time and I think it was one of the few things that didn't mean death was immenent!

DBennett · 20/06/2011 20:47

It's pretty common and is almost always nothing to worry about.

Lack of sleep and excess of stimulants seem to be the chief causes.

Worth bearing in mind that although it can seem a large movement to you, hardly anyone else will notice it looking at you.

DooinMeCleanin · 20/06/2011 20:49

DH is convincd it is too do with epilepsy and means you definitely have it and are about to have a fit. DH is a hypochondriac.

I get it often. It's nothing. just over tired/stressed etc. It goes away on it's own.

TheOriginalFAB · 20/06/2011 20:51

Definitely must be over tiredness as I don't drink tea, coffee or anything with stimulants.

Stress is a major cause but also sitting infront of computer screens for too long can cause it.

I get it if I am over tired and stressed.

WowOoo · 21/06/2011 09:40

Tiredness always does that to me.
Sometimes it's days after I've been stressed and worn out.

I drink coffee all the time. I only get it when I haven't had enough sleep.
Hope it stops soon.
Do you find yourself talking to people and thinking 'Can they notice my face is twitching?'
I scrunch up my eyes and then release - apparently this is a good exercise for it...

squeaver · 21/06/2011 09:46

Eat a banana. It's a potassium deficiency.

Chandon · 21/06/2011 09:55

I get that when tired.

TheOriginalFAB · 21/06/2011 10:14

Just had a banana.

Ephiny · 21/06/2011 10:26

I get it sometimes, seems to be related to stress/tiredness/eye-strain. It's very common, and really unlikely to be a sign of anything serious!

TheOriginalFAB · 21/06/2011 11:31

Had a banana. Still going. Not worried, it is just annoying.
