Today is her birthday party too and she has had to abandon her mates as she is in such severe pain and throwing up.

What can I do to make her feel better? She has just taken 2 painkillers and chucked them up.

I had really bad pains (throwing up etc)as a teenager and when I was 17 and doing my leaving cert Mammy took me to the doc so Id be ok for my exams. Doc bolloxed my mum cos she (the doc) could have sorted me out with a pill to suit me so as I didnt have to suffer. Luckily I was a late developer and didnt start till I was 15 and 1/2 but even those 2 years was enough. TBH tho the pill didnt help that much but I was at least able to function rather than being totally incapable. Still had BAD pains till I had dd.

QueenEagle, I suffered like this when I first started my periods aged 12, and regularly had to go home from school. The sickness and stomach pains started on a regularly monthly basis about 4 months BEFORE i started my periods, weird, and continued for IIRC a few more months, but I think I did get some special painkillers from my doc. Recall one memorable occasion when I was sick in class, luckily home ec room equipped with sink! Oh the joys of being a woman...hope she is feeling better soon

My dd1 suffers like this. She's taken mefanamic acid since she was 14 and it's very effective. If your sis needs an antisickness drug then Buccastem is available to buy. It's a tiny tablet which you don't swallow, you just put it between your gum and top lip and it gets absorbed via the mucous membrane. But she really needs to see a Dr and get a proper plan of action to help her cope. Hope she feels better soon.

Well, everyone went home as dd was laid up on the sofa. After about an hour she seemed much better although she wasn't quite herself.

This morning she is back to her normal bright and chirpy self and she is gutted that her party had to be abandoned. Although dh was very sympathetic I don't think he is eagerly anticipating a re-run of 4 over-excited teenagers again next weekend!!!

Thanks to everyone for their comments, very helpful to know she can get effective pain relief for next month.

QueenEagle - sorry your DD has taken after you in the pain dept - mine did too (I went on the pill at 15 which helped and I never had a problem once I'd had DD) I ended up collecting her from school nearly every month as she was so ill, v white, feeling faint & prone to vomming everywhere. Feminax helped - as long as she took it as soon as she felt the first twinge, but what has really made a difference is having regular reflexology. Much reduced PMT and no pain anymore. Worth every penny I reckon.
