Poor thing - hope shes OK

Just seen this YG. Hope she's OK. Tonsillitis can turn into Quincy which is pretty nasty.

swings · 17/11/2005 22:34

Good luck YG, dd had this really badly at about the same age. We took her in, they put her on IV antibiotics for 2 days, plus fluids. As someone else said the turn around was rapid from her being floppy, boiling hot and refusing food and drink to being much more herself. The worst part of staying in hospital was that we got virtually no sleep.

hope all is well yorkiegirl

You could try her on ice lollies. The coolness of them may be soothing and it would be at least getting her some liquid as well.

QueenVictoria · 17/11/2005 23:58

Ice lollies are good plus sucking water or any form of juice from a clean flannel. With the ABs it may just be a case of putting the tiniest blob on the tongue and letting it go dwon with the normal saliva. It might take a good 10 mins to take the whole dose but at least she will get it all eventually.

Did they give you any paracetamol suppositories to keep going with ? I know some people get uptight about them but in these sort of circumstances they really do work quickly and effectively.

trace2 · 18/11/2005 11:29

Suppositories are one of the best (quickest, safest) drug delivery methods around.

Glad things are looking better, and I hope they keep getting better.

puff · 18/11/2005 17:21

yes, they are brill (have fond memories of getting voltarol ones in hospital). Hope she recovers soon.
