At the risk of sounding like a complete nutter!, is it safe to have your inhaler in your pocket whilst on a high velocity extreme ride at theme parks? DH has implied to me that they are not safe to have about your person whilst on a ride, or am I being taken for a ride?!!! Thanks.

WHat if it fell out?

christine34 · 08/06/2011 22:32

Sealed pocket!! Is more a case of it being essentially a pressured container...

What has that got to do with anything? Am i being thick?

freshprincess · 09/06/2011 13:58

If it got squashed would it explode? I can't see the speed of the ride being a factor tbh

smudgethepuppydog · 09/06/2011 16:38

DD just keeps hers in her zipped up pocket and she's suffered no explosions to date nor has she managed to squash it.

christine34 · 09/06/2011 16:41

Thanks for all replies!! Obviously I know it's safe just to keep it in your pocket(!), just didn't know about how a pressurised inhaler may react due to the sudden changes in pressure!! Thanks anyway.

There isnt a sudden change in pressure - only in acceleration. It should be fine :)

smudgethepuppydog · 09/06/2011 16:45

Surely it's the same as taking aerosol cans onto a flight? They go into the hold and they are safe.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/06/2011 16:47

air pressure and acceleration are very different things. Unless the rides take you up mountains and back or deep into an abyss there is no change in pressure.

Thank you for your sane (and reassuring) replies - much appreciated!! Smile

I take mine in a zipped pocket in circumstances like that. If I start having an attack, I do not want to have to wait for the ride to stop, go and find my bag etc - I might be dead by then.

Agreed, Aliba!! Smile
