At the moment it is mostly 2 of my fingers, one arm and my knee which is giving me a lot if pain and especially when I drive. I don't want to be popping pain killers as the pain is bearable, I just wonder if there is anything more natural I can do to help myself?

Have you tried bromelin?

TheOriginalFAB · 02/06/2011 16:20

What is that?

Earlier I had a sharp pain down my side that lasted a few seconds and I had to breathe through it it was so painful.

Can't wait until DH comes home so I can flop on the bed.

rockinhippy - just thinking about what you said earlier. I am feeling a bit icky and had home made sausage rolls for lunch. Could it be the pastry?

Some really good tips on here, I am so glad I saw the thread.

I can 2nd the cutting out wheat, I am on about day 10, with a few blips and can nearly get out of bed without wanting to crumple to the ground Smile and manage the stairs without having to support myself.

I also agree with monitered exercise helping although it is tempting to not bother. Blush

When it is bad I know I need to manage my time with short bursts and rests but often wind up burning out which I know is cvounter productive Hmm

KatyMac · 03/06/2011 07:52

I started the exercises the physio gave me; it was awful

I had to get up twice last night & go to the loo while I did them & this morning I have pulled my groin and have pains accross my tummy

All I was doing was lying on my side with 1 leg bent & 1 leg straight with an arm over my head; no movement at all

I managed 2 mins; I was supposed to do 10

My body is in a mess

ppeatfruit · 03/06/2011 09:29

After having arthritis in my fingers when i was 40 i remembered my poor granny's bent and twisted fingers and researched eating for health; Iam now 60 with no health problems at all!! I do these things;

!. Food combining (not mixing protein and carbs at the same meal)

2 Always eat fruit on an empty stomach

3.Follow my own blood type way of eating (A types should be demi vegan and 0 types should not eat wheat but should eat meat no pork though).

it's quite rigorous but it bloody works!!

ppeatfruit · 03/06/2011 09:35

For quick fixes a good echinacea with a kelp supplement. Also glucosamine and chondroitin help a lot of people. Rockin it's nice to be on a thread where the posters are polite isn't it!!!!???

TheOriginalFAB · 03/06/2011 16:10

I felt so ill this morning on the way to the beach. Stomach cramps with period coming, pains in neck, head and finger and a weird metallic taste in my mouth. I feel snappy too.Sad

IMO you probably have a wheat intolerance Theoriginal cut it out for a week or so and monitor yr symptoms.D.H. is a different person when he's off it you may well be an O type.

TheOriginalFAB · 03/06/2011 18:29

My blood group is O positive.

Is it a question if reading ingredients lists and avoiding wheat or is it like sugar that is hidden in a way and listed as ingredients ending in -ose?

I think, and someone may correct me but anything that has wheat in is often listed as containing gluten.

There is a lot of lovely, although slightly more expensive alternatives to most products. I have a corn pasta which I personally can barely tell the difference, I prefer Corn thins to rice cakes and am going to try a cake with a flour alternative. Lots of products have a gluten warning on them.

It really really has helped me and I do slip up sometimes.

The effect of being 'pro active' and being able to help myself has made me feel good as well..

TheOriginalFAB · 03/06/2011 22:04

Corn things sound nice.

I tried everything free bread and it was okay but very expensive for a tiny loaf. I will try gluten free things though as fed up of feeling like my body is falling apart. I am not that old!

OP posts:
TheOriginalFAB · 03/06/2011 22:05

thins not things.

Saisnsbos does nice rye bread a bit expensive but nicer than the gluten free stuff (which has potato flour in it also a no no for O types) It's interesting about the G.F. free stuff some people are intolerant of gluten and with my D.H it's just wheat he has to avoid.

ppeatfruit · 04/06/2011 12:59

Theoriginal O types are good with most veggies and seafood and meat (except pork) but not dairy ( you can have butter though !) lucky thing. I guarantee if you started eating that way you would soon be feeling amazing!!!

ppeatfruit · 04/06/2011 13:05

I just remembered that coffee and 'normal' tea are too acid for yr. gut as is vinegar sorry! But green tea, redbush and esp. verveine tea is good for you (the verveine is good for calming you and helping sleep).Rice is a good carb. for you.

TheOriginalFAB · 04/06/2011 15:56

I don't like tea or coffee so that isn't a problem.

fab - could you make gf bread/cakes etc from scratch, IIRC from previous posts you are pretty nifty at home baking. Sorry you are having a rough time lately.

rockin - was v struck by your mention of barometric pain - I have no diagnosis as not been to doctor yet Blush but I also find humidity a massive trigger - is this particularly characteristic of fm?

TheOriginalFAB · 04/06/2011 18:52

I am pretty rubbish. I bought fruit tea cakes for breakfast today. Not getting this not eating wheat am I? [thick emoticon but I used to be clever]

I am pretty good at baking though Smile.

Well it's a big change in habits (as paul mc. says!!) if you have time for baking look in a health Food shop for spelt, kamut and rice flour;I use the rice flour instead of wheat for all sauces etc. and it makes nicer pancakes than wheat flour!!

ppeatfruit · 05/06/2011 08:52

Be kind to yourself!! i remembered that oranges are terrible for aches and pains (for all blood types except B) my DD has the book it's by Dr. peter D'Adamo you could probably pick them up on Amazon cheaply.

loveursoul · 06/06/2011 16:06

Am not sure if you have heard about them already but there is a great organisation called getyourlifebackfromme and they have a site you can go on and they will guide you to therapists that have trained specifically to help people with ME and fibromyalgia. I suffered from very early signs years ago and I wish they had been around then to help me through it

mumtoted · 06/06/2011 16:14

Omega 3 capsules, 2 a day.

TheOriginalFAB · 07/06/2011 18:42

Thank you. I hope to be well enough to go shopping today and will get some.
