because DS has just been diagnosed at 1 yr. I'm gutted actually, he has had such beautiful skin for all this time, and over the past week, it has spread from his face all over his body to his legs. . The fact that it originated around his mouth got me wondering and racking my brains as to whether it has been something in his diet. I have been gradually introducing cows milk, but he has had it on cereal for several months, and also has yoghurt a lot. I've changed to goats milk already but I would be really interested to hear other people's experiences. With my history of Anapyalaxis I am already quite keen to see if he can have food allergy testing, but does anyone have any answers? (If only!)

No answers Flossam - just sympathy. My dd's started during a bout of molloscum - they went and the eczema stayed. She had never had it before (was about 9 at the time), thankfully it seems to be much less widespread at the moment.

i wish i culd. dd1 eczema appeared soon after birth, 2 little 'disc's appeared on her cheeks one day, then i stopped breastfeeding on HV advice as she wasnt gaining weight (grrrr) and it got progressivly worse. by the time she was 6months she covered head to toe. it took ages to get referred to dermo, and months of painful scratching at night. tbh i have hardly slept through since as most nights i am up reapplying creams, doing inhalors etc.

one things i can recommend if he is a night scracther is the sleepsuits from cotton comfort. even tho my double jointed little madam could escape, they did help with regards to sleeping, she has slept through more and more lately with the sleepsuits.

He dosen't seem to be itching at all. Which is odd isn't it? Wasn't bothering him a bit. Was around his mouth, looking worse one day and better another, so put off taking him to GP's. The rash on his body has come up since we have been using the dermosol stuff which again strikes me as odd. I really wanted to prevent all this, both me and Dp have history of it, breastfed him exclusively until he was 5 months and one day I had no milk to give. Mixed fed until he was nine months. Am going to change washing powder back, although the fact that it began on his face and we have never used any kind of soap on there makes me wonder why it has come up, really and that washing powder can't be to blame.

i realize this may be controversial but my ds's excema started after his first vaccine as a baby.

He has now grown out of his excema, but has asthma and severe allergies.Don't know if it will make a difference to his asthma but we have started a homeopathic vaccine detox regime. It's worth a try anyway.

I have a friend whose son's excema improved dramatically when she stopped cow's milk.
