Tips to stop shoes rubbing?

My DS is only 3 but every pair of shoes/pumps/trainers rub his feet until he gets blisters, i've spent a fourtune on expensive shoes thinking maybe it was the material but it makes no difference. I've had his feet measured in every shoe shop i can find so i know the size is right. He gets horrible blisters on his heels and 4th toe?

My mum always used to get the blunt end of a knife and rub it around the insides of the shoe where it is rubs the foot - I guess to help soften/wear in the leather.
As a child I was never that convinced it worked. But have in recent years found myself rubbing at DCs shoes with a blunt knife and telling them I was sorting out their shoes so they don't rub.... Hmm not sure whether it works or not but they've tended not to complain after I have done the said rubbing, so may be worth a go.

Maybe try some crocs or birkenstocks for summer? They don't tend to rub anywhere.

Does he have very wide or very narrow feet? Ecco or Geox are good for wide feet and Aster very good for wonky narrow feet (both my DD's are horribly narrow). But the issue might be that he has wide toes & narrow heel, or medium toes & wide heel, in which case insoles might be your best bet.

kiesmommy... it's possible you just need to persevere with fittings.
I used to work in a shoe shop and it's true that some children were a real pain to fit! or rather, their feet just didn't match the shape that the manufacturers wanted to make shoes in... but we would try and try and try until we got a good enough fit

if you have had shoes fitted and they rub then you should take them back and make them re-fit for a new pair because a correctly fitted pair of shoes should not be causing blisters

is there a chance that maybe you are not doing them up tight enough? obviously you don't want to do them up uncomfortably tight, but they do need to be snug enough to keep the foot in place and that is a common cause of blisters in children (well, from what I saw during my years as a fitter)

as a child I could only wear start-rite shoes because anything else my poor mum tried on me gave me blisters. not only that, but there was only ONE style of start-rite shoes that fit me just right. was very boring for me :(
