breast pain and lymph gland pain with no lumps

I finally got round to going to the gp today about it - I've noticed for a very long time that my right armpit is slightly swollen compared to the left - just from shaving. However the swelling was very slight and always painless. Since finishing bf dd2 in November, I have had the feeling that there was milk 'to come' from a duct pointing towards my arm pit on that side. Obviously there wasn't. Then, thinking about it, that feeling was always there whilst bf too, but I put it down to the obvious. More recently, I have noticed pain which is sometimes high in my arm pit, sometimes low, and sometimes in the breast, sometimes all three. I can detect no lumps, but I think that there is a tract of diffuse swelling, possibly inflammation, tracing from my arm pit to my breast.

Anyway, the gp today couldn't feel any lumps or detect anything really in my armpit. He said, based on that, that he was happy not to do a breast exam and since I had both dc with me and one was reaching the end of tether, I went with it. He was very nice and complimentary about my oxters, saying that in 'slim' people things are easier to feel Smile.

Since being prodded, it has been particularly annoying and noticeable today. Gp didn't give me an indication of what it could be, so I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas? I did have mastitis with both dc in that breast, so could it be a hangover from that? It doesn't seem to matter what time of the month it is, but seeing as my cycle is about 3 weeks long just now (darn, forgot to ask about that), there is no real 'settled' time in the month!

hobnob, I bet it's nothing - after all, GP surely would have insisted on an examination if they were worried, but still I'd say go back without DC and ask what could be causing it. Is it a Group Practice where you could see another GP maybe? If they say the same as the first that would be hugely reassuring. Breast things are alway worth checking I reckon, and sounds like you need answers for peace of mind.
