9 days recovery, so its should start improving. R you using the nasal wash? It really helped my Dh. Dont take any aspirin based meds as they stop blood clotting. My DH used lots of nurofen, so dose yourself up. The nasal douching kit was the best though.

Yeah , i got the squirt up the nose kit from the hospital. It sort of helps the stuffiness , but then the bleeding starts again. Sad.

If i had known it had been this sore , i dont think i would have had the op.
Been taking parecetamol , will try the nurofen instead . Thanks .

Honest my DH is now fabulous, but it did take a good 9 days to over come it all and she is glad she had it done. She used to get big globs of blood/mucus etc all the throughout until the splints came out.

Could you ask your GP for a stronger painkiller - co-codamol or something like that?

I've been offered the op and refused for the time being - am using nasonex instead for now - I'd be interested to see how you get on.

Its really sore.

I had the op because the nasel sprays did not work for me.

I got smashed in the face with a bottle of guiness when i was 5 yr old. My parents were drinking and didnt care that my 3 year old brother was running about with one of their bottles. Its not his fault , he was just a baby really. Sad I know he has always felt guilty about it.
But it did leave me unable to breath through my nose , and it was really really wonkey ,. Id get regular sore throats and worse asthma because id breath via mouth all the time. Not to mention waking at night , everynight and snoaring like a drunken baby elephant.

My breathing is better already , i can breath through my nose for the first time in 30 years , but it is very very painfull.

You can get co-codamol over the counter which can be taken with ibuprofen. If you can't take codeine for some reason you can take paracetamol together with ibuprofen. They work so much better when taken together.

If that still doesn't work then go to your GP and ask for something stronger. They should prescribe you a short course of something as you've had an op :)

Sad. I hope the operation sorts things out droves.

The consultant told me I must have had some sort of blow to the nose as a child, but the only thing I can remotely remember is my brother giving me a whacking great karate chop to the nose when I was young, which hurt for weeks afterwards. These brothers have a lot to answer for. Grin

I would love to have my broken nose straightened, it is the last reminder of the damage my violent ex did to me.

But I am terrified to go back to the ENT and say I want it done because I think it will involve a general anaesthetic. The last time I had one I suffered a terrible reaction and had to be resuscitated so I am too scared of something going wrong as I am on my own with DS.

Does anyone know if a GA is necessary for this kind of operation?
